Bazna

Town of Bazna in southern Transylvania (9 miles norts of Medias and 40 miles north of Sibiu) was founded in 1302 and known as a spa destination since 1842.

Another curative element employed by medical spas in Bazna is salt extracted locally, which is rich in iodine and bromine. Eforie Nord

Town of Eforie Nord, located on a strip of land between Black Sea and Lake Techirghiol, is known to spa-goers from all over the world for the black, sapropelic mud (nămol ) collected from the bottom of Lake Techirghiol; Techirghiol mud have long been used as cure for arthritic, rheumatic, internal and nervous system disorders.

Water of Lake Techirghiol is five times saltier than the water of the Black Sea.

Mangalia

Town if Mangalia lays on the very site where the Greek city of Callatis stood proudly, over 2,400 years ago. The natural treatment centres in Covasna use the "Covasna Method" - a therapeutic approach that combines mofettes, carbonated baths, mineral water treatments, exercise, and a controlled lifestyle in programs designed for cardiovascular recovery and improved peripheral circulation.

Mofettes, as natural phenomena, are extremely rare in Europe and the rest of the world. They are gases resulting from natural post-volcanic emanations (in which carbon dioxide is present in a 95-98% proportion) and are used as a therapeutic factor. Along with carbon dioxide, mofette gas contains small amounts of other volcanic emission gases: ammonium, sulfur, helium and radon, positive and negative air ions, and have a radioactivity of 0.3 μCi/l, without cancer risk, and a radon concentration lower than 1%.
Given their therapeutic efficacy, mofette gas is indicated for certain cardiovascular diseases, such as peripheral arterial disease stage 1, 2 and 3, arteritis, venopathy, leg ulcers, chronic stable ischemic heart disease, stable hypertension stage 1 and 2.
Mofettes ("mofeta" in Romanian) also help alleviate symptoms, manage conditions and treat disorders of the central nervous system (asthenic neurosis, depression), diseases of the digestive tract, endocrine diseases, urinary tract diseases, blood disorders, musculoskeletal conditions, stage 1 and 2 diabetis, dermatological, gynecological diseases, chronic degenerative rheumatism.
However, the major indication of mofette is in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular disease rehabilitation.

Sovata

First documented at the end of the 16th century, Sovata was mentioned as a spa town in a written document dated 1850. Located in a dense forest in the heart of Transylvania, Sovata features the largest heliothermal lake in Europe: Lacul Ursu (Bear Lake). The mineral, salty, waters and mud extracted from the bottom of lake Ursu are used to treat gynecological and sterility afflictions.
Six miles south of Sovata, Praid salt mine offers a great environment for the treatment of afflictions of the respiratory system, such as asthma.
